23rd February 2007 (Fri):

This lesson was spent mainly to correct my bowing so that I can produce a fuller sound (and a less tense sound) when I’m playing with the left hand. I still need many hours of practice with my A and D strings and the G and C strings.

My music theory sucks… I’m still not able to recognise notes at first glance. I only remembered the fingerings for each note. That is something I need to improve too over this coming week.

9th February 2007 (Fri):

This lesson has to go down as one of my most enjoyable lessons yet. We started on the Stephen De’ak’s method book that finally came by air mail, and I’ve started to have more passion for the exercises because I am expecting continuity now for my learning because of the method book. My left hand has finally shown some resemblance of an obedient servant listening to what my brain commands it to do!

I hope I can learn good enough to progress to the scales and then to songs. I want to do the Canon in D with the gang, and I definitely want to pass my grade 1 with flying colours. =)

27th January 2007 (Sat):

For this lesson, we played duets and learned the dynamics in playing for each other. We have to feel each other’s beat, note and time. It was quite a difficult lesson, but definitely one of the most enjoyable.

I’ve gotten some notes to practice on! I can feel that though the hard part is coming with regards to the left hand, this is going to be milestone for me as a Cellist.
